Polaris Coursework

What is Polaris?

Naval Sea Cadets and Naval League Cadets are required to complete all coursework and exams which will be administered through Polaris, our earning management system. Polaris can be accessed through the Quarterdeck system. On Quarterdeck you can get to “POLARIS” a web-based coursework application. Remember, the first training you’ll ever do is Recruit Training (RT) or as the Military refers to it “Bootcamp”. To qualify for recruit training cadets, need to pass the E-1 coursework in POLARIS.
Polaris Advancement Courses. Navy materials served as a primary reference for the Polaris Advancement Courses (PAC), which are available to all members through Polaris. Mandatory PACs are the “homework” cadets must complete for advancement.

Polaris Advancement Courses (PAC), E-1 Seaman Recruit Indoctrination must be completed by all new Sea Cadets followed by E-2 Seaman Apprentice.

PACs include intermediate quizzes and a final summative exam. There are no separate advancement exams associated with PACs. All PAC quizzes require a score of 80% or higher to progress through the course, and a score of 80% on the final exam to pass the entire course.

Cadets will automatically be assigned a course based on their rate. Courses are taken online and automatically graded. Scores will be automatically recorded in Magellan within 24 hours of completion on Polaris.
